It wasn’t long before the grappling ace took the back of Ray and threatened a rear-naked choke, but Ray spun through and Lauzon assumed the full mount position. Lauzon battered and bruised Ray with elbows, softening him up before posturing up and blasting him with more shots. The round was dominant for Lauzon and he likely earned himself a 10-8 round.

Ray came right back out to the center of the confidence in the second round, boxing his way to comfortable positioning. Ray’s offense started working in his favor, blasting the body of Lauzon while changing levels. Lauzon secured a massive takedown in the middle of the round, landing directly in half-guard.

When Ray was in a position to get back up to his feet, he chose to latch on to the leg of Lauzon and work for submission. As expected, it did not work and the horn sounded bringing the fight to the final round.

Ray shrugged off a takedown attempt and attacked the body of Lauzon, working hard to chop away at his gas tank with body shots. He stayed right in front of Lauzon without circling around and it wasn’t long before Lauzon shot for a takedown he would eventually secure.

Ray got back up to his feet after two minutes of being grounded and swung for the fences, landing on Lauzon. Lauzon was forced to backpedal, gassed, and was saved by the bell as Ray was throwing an onslaught of strikes.

Stevie Ray def. Joe Lauzon by way of Majority Decision (28-27, 29-27, 28-28)
