Former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre is set to make his return to the Ultimate Fighting Championship after over three years away from the sport of mixed martial arts. In his return to the octagon, “Rush” will be taking on middleweight champion Michael “The Count” Bisping.
While St-Pierre has never competed in the middleweight division, the former welterweight champion will be facing “The Count” in a middleweight title fight later this year. However, an official date for the match has not yet been set.
While the fighters work out the details of the match-up, Georges St-Pierre has decided to take on a round of interviews. Among them, the former champion took on an interview with Russian source MMA News Info.
In the interview with MMA News Info, St-Pierre referenced a time UFC lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov choked him out unexpectedly. The former champion explained that he was in a restaurant with friends, when “The Eagle” struck.
“I was dining in a restaurant with my friends, and suddenly somebody came from behind and started choking me out, submitting me. I thought it was one of my friends, I didn’t know it was Khabib. Khabib sneaked up to me like a ninja and started choking me. And then I tapped. Then I looked up and saw Khabib. It was a huge surprise for me.” St-Pierre said.
