UFC Commentator Jon Anik Questions If Johnson Threw The Fight

Anthony “Rumble” Johnson stepped into the octagon at “UFC 210” with all the momentum in the world behind him, leaving a path of destruction behind him as he challenged Daniel Cormier for his UFC Light Heavyweight Championship. The main event bout would only last two rounds, however, as Cormier was able to work Johnson into submission much like he did in their first encounter.

Johnson’s performance left fans and fighters alike scratching their heads; “Rumble” seemingly abandoned his gameplan and tried to wrestle and Olympic Wrestler to the mat. Cormier rolled with the punches and let the striker tire himself out with all the grappling.

It wasn’t long before Johnson’s coaches in his corner were cussing up a storm, wondering what their fighter was doing. It was later revealed by Johnson himself during the post fight interview that “UFC 210” would be his last event, shocking the world with his retirement announcement.

UFC on FOX analyst and UFC commentator Jon Anik caught the fight and was just as befuddled as the rest of the roster while watching all the action unfold inside the octagon. In a recent edition of his podcast with Kenny Florian, Anik revealed that he thought Johnson may have thrown the fight away by grappling the way he did:
