Both women were looking to bounce back from losses in their last octagon outings, and they did not rush into things taking their time with the feeling out process.

The feeling out process never truly ended in the first, as both women did not find their distance to strike from when the second round started. Strikes landed were few and far between, but they were throwing enough and staying busy enough to where the crowd did not boo them right away. While their shots above the neck failed to land for the most part, it was Chookagian’s attacks to the lead leg and body of Aldana that likely got her ahead in the scorecards.

Aldana’s offense never slowed down, however, but Chookagian did speed up. She pushed the pace in the final round, firing off kicks as soon as it started before pushing Aldana across the octagon to further establish the role of aggressor.

Aldana came on strong in the closing minutes of the fight, repeatedly attacking the lead leg of Chookagian.

Katlyn Chookagian def. Irene Aldana by way of Split Decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
