Anthony Smith and Andrew Sanchez kept the ball rolling on UFC Fight Pass for the preliminary portion of “UFC on FOX 24” with their middleweight contest. While the opening round was grapple heavy, they kept it competitive on the mats and their reversals kept the crowd interested and cheering.

Once they got back to the middle of the octagon standing, they were careful to make sure they did not get in each other range so most successful strikes landed came from a distance and had lost their power by the time it got to the opponent’s face. The fact that they had skipped over the feeling out process completely meant that neither Smith nor Sanchez knew where to strike from, or which angle was the best to attack from.
Sanchez was able to back Smith up against the octagon fencing where he cracked him with a solid straight right before dragging him down to the mats with a takedown. Smith got up after a minute of struggling on the mats, but Sanchez was able to drag him right back down to the canvas.
Smith walked out to the octagon as aggressive as he was in the first, hoping to make a comeback and finish the fight in the third. He started to take control when the roles were reversed and he put Sanchez up against the fence, forcing him to circle around and dodge his wild punches. Sanchez did a great job at dodging them, but Smith did land his fair share of shots throughout the third.
Smith fired off a several punch combination and blasted Sanchez, finishing him with a right hand and follow up shots in the final round!
