One of Ultimate Fighting Championship’s most popular fighters in Nick Diaz has served his time for his suspension dealt to him by the Nevada State Athletic Commission and is free to make his way back into the octagon anytime he pleases. The Stockton, California native won’t just get back inside the octagon with anybody, however, as he is waiting for the right opponent and a big-money fight.
Diaz could be eyeing a return to the octagon as soon as “UFC 212” in Brazil due to the fact that Anderson Silva is still looking for an opponent. Kelvin Gastelum was forced out of the bout due to a flagged drug test and Silva has named Diaz as a suitable replacement. Hopefully, Dana White and Diaz feel the same.
The last time Diaz stepped into the octagon was at “UFC 183” where he squared off with the legendary Anderson Silva in a super fight. Even though the fight left more to be desired, Diaz still gave the paying fans a show by consistently taunting Silva throughout the fight.
The drama did not come until after the fight when it was revealed that both Diaz and Silva had been popped on their drug tests. While Silva was dealing with a suspension for performance enhancing drugs, Diaz was flagged for marijuana metabolites and was brought to court and dealt with the commission in the most “OG” way possible:
