Former UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre tweeted a photo on Tuesday suggesting that his next fight could take place at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
St-Pierre posted a photo of himself attending at New York Rangers game at Madison Square Garden.
“I could be fighting here in a few months… Can’t wait!” St-Pierre tweeted.
St-Pierre has not fought in the UFC since he relinquished his welterweight title after defeated Johny Hendricks in Nov. 2013. He is expected to fight for the UFC middleweight title against current champion Michael Bisping sometime this year. However, the UFC has released little information about exactly when or where this fight will take place.
If St-Pierre does fight Bisping in Madison Square Garden, it will be the UFC’s second event to be held at the historic venue. The UFC hosted its first event at Madison Square Garden back in November. The event featured Conor McGregor defeating Eddie Alvarez to become the UFC lightweight champion.
Big thanks @NYRangers for inviting me & Erik Owings @TheGarden for the game tonight! I could be fighting here in a few months… Can’t wait! pic.twitter.com/xfP8tiQueU
