It’s no secret that UFC lightweight contender “Raging” Al Iaquinta is not a fan of the UFC.
Earlier this month, Iaquinta attended the UFC Athlete Retreat in Las Vegas. The lightweight contender did not seem to enjoy his time with the new UFC owners.
“I think (UFC co-owner) Ari Emanuel, he was trying to be one of us, but he’ll never be one of us,” Iaquinta told MMAjunkie. “He was walking around trying to hang out with everybody, which was cool to see that, but he’s just not one of us. It’s not going to happen.”
Iaquinta has been upset with the UFC over the amount of money he’s been compensated. At the retreat, there were seminars with celebrities and corporate sponsors, which Iaquinta seemed to not enjoy.
“It was a weird atmosphere, having all these fighters and these guys like Kobe Bryant and Michael Strahan talking to everybody about investments and stuff like that,” Iaquinta said.
“We’re not making anywhere near the money they’re making, so anything they were saying went right over everyone’s head.”
