UFC Announces Major Light Heavyweight Bout For UFC 214

Two of the top light heavyweight fighters in the world will square off at UFC 214 on July 29.

Top contenders Jimi Manuwa and Volkan Oezdemir will fight in a pivotal fight at 205 pounds at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

Manuwa is currently ranked No. 3 in the official UFC light heavyweight rankings. He is on a two-fight win streak. Last October, Manuwa knocked out fellow contender Ovince Saint-Preux. In March, he knocked out Corey Anderson.

Oezdemir is ranked No. 5 in the light heavyweight division. He is on a four-fight win streak and is unbeaten in the UFC. He made his UFC debut on short notice and won a decision against Saint-Preux. Last weekend, Oezdemir took 28 seconds to knock out Misha Cirkunov.

UFC 214 will be headlined by UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier defending his title against former champion Jon Jones.

If something were to happen to either Cormier or Jones, resulting in them not being able to compete, either Manuwa or Oezdemir could serve as possible replacements.
