The UFC returned to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for one of the most highly anticipated fights of the year.
At UFC 212, UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway unified his title Interim UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway in the main event.
Before the main event took place, the UFC provided another night full of intriguing matchups.
In the first fight of the night, Marco Beltran and Deiveson Figueiredo fought in the flyweight division.
Both fighters traded kick attempts to start the fight, but both fighters were hesitant to exchange. Figueiredo landed a couple of kicks and went for a takedown. Beltran stopped the takedown at first but was tripped to the ground. After struggling on the ground, Figueiredo attempted a guillotine choke. Beltran stayed calmed and managed to escape the choke. Beltran began throwing shot from on top to finish the opening round.
Beltran began the round throwing punches and kicks but struggled to land. Later, Beltran began having success with his leg, and body kicks. Beltran went for a flying knee but was taken down. Figueiredo then gained full mount. Beltran was active off his back and managed to get in half guard. Beltran then used his long legs to get his opponent off of him temporarily. Figueiredo then jumped on top of Beltran and took his back. Figueiredo then went for a rear-naked choke. Beltran escaped the choke, but Figueiredo then gained full mount once again. At the end of the round, Figueiredo went for a heel hook. Beltran managed to escape and got to his feet. The round ended with Figueiredo dropping Beltran, who was saved by the bell.
However, in-between rounds the referee stopped the fight giving Figueiredo the TKO victory.
