There’s long been an outcry for more weight-classes in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts.
The 15 pound gap between lightweight and welterweight has been one point of contention among fighters, coaches and fans. So has the same gape between welter and middleweight.
The same can also be said for the 20 pound gap between middleweight and light-heavyweight, and the massive sixty-pound variance at heavyweight.
The Association of Boxing Commissions, is looking to change that now, and have legally added additional weight-classes to the unified rules of Mixed Martial Arts. Soon we may see fighters competing in this new weight-divisions. The weights added are 165, 175, 195 and 225 pounds.
This, of course, doesn’t mean the UFC has to adopt or include these weight-classes, however, they might.
