UFC President Dana White has reacted to footage of UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor training in boxing.
McGregor is currently training to make his professional boxing debut. Next month, he is scheduled to fight boxing legend Floyd “Money” Mayweather.
“All I’ve seen are videos he’s (McGregor) sent me, and listen, he’s not a boxer,” White said at a recent press conference promoting the fight.
“At the end of the day, Conor McGregor is a fighter. He’s not a boxer. In a 12-round fight, Conor, who is the bigger, younger, stronger guy, he needs to hit Floyd Mayweather and he needs to hurt him.”
Despite not having any professional boxing experience, McGregor is one of the best MMA fighters in the world. McGregor has used his devastating punching power to win two different UFC championships.
Mayweather vs. McGregor will take place Saturday, August 26 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
