Stipe Miocic In Contract Dispute With The UFC, Won’t Return Until Paid More Money

It may be awhile before UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic returns to the Octagon.

Miocic has not discussed his next title fight with the UFC, and will not discuss his next fight until the UFC negotiates a new contract.

Miocic’s management team told MMA Fighting the UFC champion is upset over the fact that his last two title challengers made more money in their fight than he did.

In May, Miocic defended his championship against former UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior dos Santos at UFC 211. Miocic knocked out the former champion in the first round.

Last September, Miocic made his first title defense against Alistair Overeem at UFC 203. Just like in his fight with Dos Santos, Miocic took only one round to knockout his opponent.

With two heavyweight title defenses, Miocic has tied the UFC record for most consecutive title defenses in the heavyweight division.

Overall, Miocic is on a five-fight win streak. He defeated Mark Hunt and Andre Arlovski by TKO to earn a shot at the UFC title. He won the title in May 2016 after knocking out Fabricio Werdum.
