UFC 213: Pettis Puts On A Show, Absolutely Dominates Jim Miller

On Saturday, UFC 213 took place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The event was the final event of UFC’s annual International Fight Week.

Despite the main event between UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko being canceled just hours before the event, the UFC still hosted a full night of intriguing matchups.

Former UFC Lightweight Champion Anthony Pettis returned to the lightweight division, after a short stint as a featherweight, and fought lightweight veteran Jim Miller.

Miller landed a clean right hand early in the fight. Pettis retaliated with kicks. Pettis used his kicks to keep Miller at bay. Pettis landed a hard kick to the body followed by a plethora of strikes up against the cage. Miller recovered but Pettis kept him close to the fence. Pettis later landed a clean spinning back fist. He also continued to damage Miller’s body with kicks. The round ended with Miller starting to have success with his striking.

Miller threw kicks early in round two, but Pettis retaliated with jabs. Miller tripped Pettis and got him to the ground. Pettis opened a nasty cut on Miller. Miller secured the top position, but Pettis was active from the bottom. Miller managed to take Pettis’ back, but Pettis managed to escape and get to his feet. Pettis then got Miller to the ground. After fighting on the ground, Pettis took Miller’s back. Miller then fought his way to his feet but at the end of the round, Pettis got Miller back to the mat.

Pettis started the final round with kicks to the body. Miller retaliated with kicks to Pettis’ lead leg. Both fighters began trading kicks. Miller later shot for a takedown but Pettis stuffed it. Pettis got the fight up against the cage. Miller struggled to get his back off against the fence for the remainder of the round.
