When fighters reach the pinnacle of Mixed Martial Arts by being signed to the UFC roster, that’s only half the battle.
Getting there is one thing, but keeping your slot on the roster is an entirely different scenario.
Often we see fighters come in with impeccable resumes, only to learn that once they swim with the sharks they can’t cut it.
In these cases the UFC releases fighters from the roster to make room for another candidate who shows promise.
We learned today that Alex Nicholson was released from his contract.
Nicholson went viral for being in Mike Perry’s corner and making racist comments about his asian opponent. His comments didn’t sit well with MMA fans and we don’t think many are going to be sad to see him leave.
MMA Kings broke the news via twitter:
The UFC has cut middleweight Alex "The Spartan" Nicholson.
