Fresh Off Saturday’s Loss, “Cowboy” Requests Quick Turnaround At UFC 216

Despite fighting last weekend, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone is already trying to get his next fight in the UFC.

At UFC 214, Cerrone lost a close decision to former UFC Welterweight Champion Robbie Lawler.

On Tuesday, Cerrone talked to MMAjunkie at revealed that he is trying to fight at UFC 216.

“I was just at the office rallying for Oct. 7,” Cerrone said. “So we’ll see. I didn’t get knocked out this time, so I was like, ‘I’m OK.’

“I got my eye cleared up. I had a six-month (medical) suspension, so that’s another reason why I’m here. I went and took my eye – I got it cleared, and I’m good to go – 20/5 vision. You’d think I could see the punches coming.”

Cerrone went on to say that he has a feeling the UFC won’t allow him to fight in October and will reserve him for their next event at Madison Square Garden, in New York City, in November.
