Carlos Condit Wants To Make His Return To The UFC

Former interim UFC champion Carlos Condit wants to make his return to the UFC.

On Tuesday, Condit sent out a tweet to UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby saying he wants to fight in the UFC sometime in the near future.

“Yo! (Sean Shelby) what’s up big guy…? I’m wanting to fight in December or January… what say you!?” Carlos Condit said in a tweet directed at Shelby.

Despite not fighting in the UFC for over a year, Carlos Condit is still ranked No. 7 in the official UFC welterweight rankings.

Condit last fought in Aug. 2016 when he fought former UFC title challenger Demian Maia in the main event of a UFC on FOX card. Maia had one of his most impressive performances of his UFC career when he took less than two minutes to submit Condit with a rear-naked choke.

Prior to his loss to Maia, Condit fought for the UFC welterweight title against then UFC Welterweight Champion Robbie Lawler at UFC 195 in Jan. 2016. After a hard-fought back-and-forth battle, Lawler won a controversial split decision with many fans believing Condit should have left with the UFC title.

Condit is on a two-fight losing streak going into his next potential UFC bout. Throughout his career, Condit has defeated many of the top welterweights in the history of the UFC. Condit has managed to earn notable wins against Jake Ellenberger, Rory MacDonald, Dan Hardy, Dong Hyun Kim, Martin Kampmann, and Thiago Alves. Condit’s biggest UFC win came in 2012 when he defeated Nick Diaz to win an interim UFC title.

Condit has not challenged any fighters, but with his impressive resume, you can expect Condit to get a high-profile fight if he returns to the Octagon.
