UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino is not interested in a UFC fight against former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey.
On Monday, Rousey’s longtime coach, Edmond Tarverdyan, appeared on The MMA Hour and said he is interested in Rousey returning to the UFC to fight Justino.
“That’s the one,” Tarverdyan said. “I want that fight. When I trained Ronda, I know Ronda could beat Cyborg. I know that. Cyborg is too slow.”
After hearing Tarverdyan’s comments, “Cyborg” said she wasn’t interested in a fight with Rousey and believes if Rousey were to return she should fight fellow former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Miesha Tate.
“If Ronda wants to come back for a fight, I believe it’s better for her to fight Miesha Tate,” Justino said. “I’m in another stage of my career. I wanted to fight Ronda when she was psychologically well and confident.”
“Cyborg went on to say that she would face Rousey inside a WWE rings. She also said the WWE is perfect for Tarverdyan because he is a “joke.”
“Now, if she wants to make a good fight for the fans, we can make it at WWE,” Justino said. “It would fit perfectly (for her) to go to Hollywood, and for me would be another challenge in my career.
“And something brilliant, her coach would fit perfectly in her corner in WWE, he’s nothing but a joke.”
Rousey has not fought in the UFC since losing to UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes back in December. Rousey has shown no signs of making a return to the UFC, but there have been rumors of her competing in the WWE. With her close friend Shayna Baszler recently signing with the wrestling promotion, there are rumors that Rousey may compete alongside Baszler at some point in the near future.
