It appears UFC welterweight contender Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone will once again fight in a UFC main event.
On Thursday, MMAUNO.com reported that the UFC wants Cerrone to headline their upcoming UFC Fight Night event in Poland. The event will take place Oct. 21 at the Ergo Arena in Gdańsk.
Cerrone is expected to fight welterweight prospect Darren Till, who is currently undefeated.
Cerrone has hit a rough patch in his UFC career. He has lost his last two fights inside the Octagon. In July, Cerrone was on the losing end of a close decision against former UFC Welterweight Champion Robbie Lawler. In January, Cerrone suffered his first loss as a welterweight when he was defeated by Jorge Masvidal by TKO.
Prior to his recent losses, Cerrone was on a four-fight winning streak in the UFC. As a welterweight Cerrone earned submission or knockout wins against Alex Oliveira, Patrick Cote, Rick Story, and Matt Brown.
As a lightweight, Cerrone was also one of the top fighters in his division. In his last lightweight fight, Cerrone lost a title opportunity against former UFC Lightweight Champion Rafael dos Anjos. At 155 pounds, Cerrone had notable wins against Jeremy Stephens, Edson Barboza, Jim Miller, and former champions Eddie Alvarez and Benson Henderson.
Cerrone’s will have a tough test in his next UFC outing when he fights Till.
Till is currently undefeated with 15 wins. The welterweight prospect has fought four times in the UFC with one of his fights ending in a draw.
Last weekend, Till earned an impressive decision victory at a UFC Fight Night event in the Netherlands. For 15 minutes, Till showed off his impressive striking abilities and earned a unanimous decision victory over Bojan Velickovic.
Till is known for his impressive striking skills. He is considered to be a knockout artist with nine of his MMA wins coming by knockout or TKO. He also has a couple of wins by submission.
