Well, Benson Henderson has done it again.
Former UFC champion Benson Henderson has made a name for himself with more than mixed martial arts. The fighter has also earned a reputation for a rather odd habit, chewing on toothpicks.
Henderson initially sparred and trained on occasion with toothpicks in his mouth. However, the fighter would later take his habit to a new level by being spotted with a toothpick in his mouth during his epic battle against Nate Diaz at UFC on FOX 5 back in 2012.
Ever since then, the fighter has been spotted a few times inside a cage while using a toothpick. Now, Bellator 183 can be added among them.
Benson Henderson faced off against Patricky Freire at Bellator 183, but for once was on the other side of a tough judges decision as he suffered a split decision loss to his “Pitbull” at Bellator 183.
“I think that either way, win or lose, I need to stop having close fights. (People say), ‘Oh, it was kind of close, maybe you could have won, you could have lost.’ Like, those close fights are killing me. It’s always nice to win a close fight, win a close split decision, but just being in close decision, close split decision, split decision (all in a row) – those are just too close to have. You can’t have those. You have to have a better performance win or lose. You got to be in more decisive battles. It sucks.” Henderson stated following his recent loss to Freire.
Now the former UFC champion is on a two fight losing streak under the Bellator promotion. Overall, Henderson has earned a record of 1-3 under the Bellator banner.
