Frankie Edgar was initially set to face off against reigning UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway at UFC 218. However, the fighter has since been pulled from the event due to an injury. Now the former lightweight champion has come forward to shed some light on his recent injury.
Speaking to TMZ Sports, Edgar revealed that he broke his orbital bone.
“I broke my orbital bone… I had it checked out and I have a couple fractures in my face.”
Due to the timing of the injury rather than the pain, Frankie Edgar claimed that the injury is one of the most hassling he has dealt with. For the full interview, check out the video below:
With Edgar out of the event, Holloway is not set to face off against former champion Jose Aldo is a highly anticipated rematch main event. UFC 218 goes down Dec. 2 inside the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan. The event will be featured live on pay-per-view.
