Yesterday in Australia, onlookers got to see a scrap in the streets between two of the UFC’s finest as former heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum confronted Colby Covington in the street.
And while both parties share different versions of the story, Covington offers up new information of a new security tape that caught the entire ordeal.
Covington confirms once more that he was indeed punched in the face, struck with a boomerang, and he’s not taking it laying down.
In a message to MMA Fighting Covington explained what’s next:
“He f*cked up. There’s video and I speak the truth. He will be exposed soon, probably end up in Australia prison.”
“[Werdum’s explanation is] a complete lie. He wrote a check his ass can’t cash. He’s on video so all his lies will be told soon.”
In a prepared statement the UFC reacted to the fighter altercation by stating that they will invstigate any code of conduct violations and proceed accordingly.
“UFC was made aware of the altercation between Fabricio Werdum and Colby Covington at the organization’s host hotel in Sydney, Australia,” the statement read. “The organization will conduct a full investigation to determine if the Athlete Conduct Policy was violated before taking any further action on this matter.”
It would now appear as if Colby Covington is pressing charges against Werdum for the assault, as Sherdog was fist to report.
“I just got confirmation that @ColbyCovMMA is pressing charges against @FabricioWerdum. I also heard the security video shows Werdum punching Colby and the police have it. Plus there’s an eye witness that was there from start to finish.”
