Tyron Woodley Hints That He Has One More Opponent For 2017

UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley made another successful defense of his title at UFC 214 in a battle against Demian Maia. The champion earned a unanimous decision victory through a methodical five round chess match with the grappling phenom. Woodley later revealed that he would likely be out of action until next year, as the fighter suffered a shoulder injury that may require surgery. That being said, it would appear that things have since changed.

Woodley has been angling for a fight against the new middleweight champion GSP but whether he’ll get the chance for a big payday against him is still anyone’s guess.

Speaking on the post fight show for Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 120, Woodley said “You might be seeing me this year at some point, people. Just stay tuned. I may have some news for you next week.”

The welterweight champion may be hinting to an octagon return on Dec. 30th at UFC 219, as the event has yet to lock down a headliner.
