Before Tyron Woodley ever stepped foot inside the UFC’s Octagon, he was a rising star under the Strikeforce banner.
This was in a time where Nick Diaz was the promotion’s biggest draw, and he was tearing through the welterweight division.
Diaz and Woodley were then set on a collision course to fight each other but Diaz, and his anti-wrestling stance, made sure that bout never came to fruition.
Fast forward to 2017 and it’s now the Nick’s younger brother, Nate Diaz, that’s being targeted for a fight against Woodley.
Rumors recently put Nate and Tyron in an upcoming title fight against each other, but according to Woodley, Nate turned him down.
In a new rant to the Hollywood Beatdown, the UFC champion dissed both Diaz brothers, saying fear must run in the family.
Check it out:
“I’m fired up about people that tell you ‘Don’t be scared, homie,’ and then they’re scared, homie!” UFC champion Tyron Woodley stated. “That’s what I’m fired up about. Guys in our sport pump their gums quite a bit and they get you to think that they’re these huge, tough guys, they’re these gangsters, that they’ll fight anybody, anytime. Then when you get in front of a person like me, then the crickets come out. Then they don’t really want to fight. It happened with Bisping, it happened with Georges St-Pierre, it happened with Conor McGregor, it happened with Nick Diaz, big brother, and now it’s happening with baby brother so I guess it’s in the bloodline.”
