The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) made a trip to Winnipeg, Canada for the second time in the mixed martial arts promotion’s history on Saturday night, Dec. 16. From inside the Bell MTS Place, the UFC hosted UFC on FOX 26 for the Winnipeg crowd and for fight fans tuning in to the highly anticipated fight card worldwide.
In the night’s main event, former UFC champions Rafael dos Anjos and Robbie Lawler went toe-to-toe for division dominance. Dos Anjos put on a dominant performance over his opponent, earning a unanimous decision victory with a win all five rounds of their epic brawl. While UFC on FOX 26 is now in the books, the night’s main event is still a hot topic of conversation. One of the moments from the fight that still has many fans talking came from the second round.
In the second round, dos Anjos managed to pressure the fellow former champion against the cage. From there, dos Anjos unleashed a flurry of strikes that pummeled into Lawler. Lawler was seemingly unable to escape the situation and chose to simply guard his face during the onslaught instead. The moment is now being considered the longest combination in UFC history. Luckily, longtime UFC announcer Bruce Buffer was cage side to record the momentous occurrence.
