After Escaping California Wildfires, Henry Cejudo Receives Another Olympic Gold Medal

UFC flyweight Henry Cejudo is more than just a top level mixed martial artist. The fighter is also an Olympic gold medalist in freestyle wrestling. While training for his upcoming fight, the fighter was involved in a terrible incident that ended with a few burns and the medal being lost forever. That being said, some friends just helped the fighter claim a new one.

Henry Cejudo was in California ahead of his big fight against Sergio Pettis at UFC 218. Sleeping in a hotel while on an Olympic retreat, as the fighter was present for a charity, wildfires began to envelope the hotel. By the time Cejudo was aware of the dangers it was already to late to evacuate. As a result, the fighter leaped out of his second story balcony to safety. In the end, Cejudo suffered minor burns to his foot but was otherwise unscathed. That being said, the fighter’s Olympic gold medal was lost to the flames.

Cejudo has since been awarded a new gold medal at a recent Christmas party. Check out the touching moment in the video below.
