In case you missed it, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu star Gabi Garcia missed weight by 26.5 pounds today, ahead of her return to action at Rizin World Grand Prix 2017. Now, that we have final numbers in on both fighters, Garcia has been confirmed to hold a 75 pound advantage over her opponent ahead of fight night.
This might be the biggest disparity in weight since the early days of the UFC, when there were no weight classes.
Adding insult to injury, Garcia will not only hold a 75 pound advantage on her opponent, but she’ll also hold a 21 year youth advantage over her opponent, who is 53 years old.
The final numbers on weight place Gabi Garcia at 237 pounds. Their bout was scheduled to take place at 209 pounds, despite the elderly woman being nowhere near that mark.
On the other side of the cage, the 53 year old Shinobi weighed in at 162 pounds.
Initially, the Rizin President stormed the weigh-ins stage and said it would be unethical for the fight to continue. However, he had a change of heart and is allowing the fight to proceed.
Should this fight be allowed to even happen?
