Fight fans flooded into the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan on Saturday for the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s latest big MMA event. This time around, the world’s most famous mixed martial arts promotion hosted UFC 218 for the Detroit crowd. The highly anticipated event included a collection of enticing match ups, including a title fight rematch in the night’s main event. That being said, something caught on camera from outside of the octagon now has fight fans talking.
UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway headlined the night’s show, as the fighter was set to defend his title. Of course, Holloway ended up meeting someone other than originally expected inside the octagon on Saturday night, Dec. 2.
Former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar was originally given the chance to fight for the featherweight belt in the night’s headliner. However, Edgar suffered a debilitating injury that forced the fighter out of the event. As a result, “Scarface” happily stepped up on short notice for another shot at the featherweight title.
Jose Aldo and Max Holloway first went toe-to-toe at UFC 212. As the reigning champion, Aldo was looking to unify his title as he faced off against interim champion Holloway at UFC 212. However, things simply did not go the fighter’s way.
Holloway and Aldo entered a back-and-forth battle that raged on for two rounds, before Holloway managed to take out his opponent in the third. With a TKO stoppage, Holloway unified his interim title to become the reigning champion of the featherweight division.
Meeting inside the octagon once again at UFC 218, the result was much of the same. Holloway earned a second consecutive third round TKO victory over the former champion, successfully defending his title. While Holloway put on an impressive performance at the event, a hilarious moment during the live broadcast from outside of the octagon currently has fight fans talking.
Max Holloway’s family was cage side for the champion’s big main event match up. When the camera turned to commentators Joe Rogan and Jon Anik during the event’s live broadcast, Holloway’s son could be seen from behind the commentators taking the spotlight.
In the clips provided, Holloway’s son can be seen dabbing in front of the camera during the live broadcast. Check out the hilarious moment in the videos down below:
