UFC superstar Conor McGregor has taken over the world of mixed martial arts. “Notorious” is the first and only fighter in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) to ever hold a belt in two divisions simultaneously. Beyond that, the fighter most recently went on to break pay-per-view records in his professional boxing debut against Floyd Mayweather Jr. As far as how the UFC lightweight champion stays motivated to continue competing despite his fame and fortune, the fighter offered his insight in an interview back in 2015.
Appearing on a special provided by the UFC back in 2015, McGregor explained that his secret to staying motivated is to stay in debt.
“It’s hard to get up and run, when you’re wearing silk underwear.” Conor McGregor said. “As if to say, when you have made some money, it is hard to get up and get motivated. However, I’ve got a fool proof plan. When you get your money, spend every penny of it. Blow it all, until you are actually broke come the next fight. So, you’re just as hungry as you were before the first one. So now I’m in the process of blowing every penny of that. Every f**king penny of it.”
