The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was in Winnipeg, Canada on Saturday, Dec. 16, for the promotion’s most recent mixed martial arts event. UFC on FOX 26 went down inside the Bell MTS Place for the UFC’s second appearance in Winnipeg. The main event featured a battle between two former champions, as Robbie Lawler and Rafael dos Anjos went toe-to-toe for division dominance.
Lawler and dos Anjos put on a war for the Winnipeg crowd, with the fight ultimately going the distance. Dos Anjos managed to put on a dominant performance over the fellow former UFC title holder, beating out Lawler in every round for a unanimous decision victory.
During the second round of the fight, dos Anjos managed to pressure his opponent into the fence and let off a brutal combination. Lawler was stuck in the position and simply guarded to take the shots. Dos Anjos pummeled and pummeled his opponent, seemingly almost gassing himself out from the wave of strikes. Rafael dos Anjos is now 28-9 in his mixed martial arts career, with victories over some of the sport’s toughest and most talented competitors. Now the former UFC lightweight champion is a dangerous contender in the welterweight division.
