UFC bantamweight title challenger Valentina Shevchenko is now coming off of a tough loss in her mixed martial arts career. The fighter was looking to avenge a former loss to reigning bantamweight title holder Amanda Nunes at UFC 215. However, things once again did not go the fighter’s way.
Shevchenko suffered a split decision loss to the champion, with the fighter ultimately disagreeing with the decision. That being said, Shevchenko has now decided to drop down to the UFC’s new flyweight division to try her luck there. Now, the fighter has locked in her first match up in the new division.
As reported by ESPN, Valentina Shevchenko is now set to face off against Priscila Cachoeira at UFC Fight Night 125 on Feb. 3 in Belem, Brazil. Cachoeira will be making her debut inside the octagon after putting together an eight fight undefeated streak as a mixed martial artist.
