Two Weeks Out And Khabib Is Still 30 Pounds Over The Lightweight Limit

Notorious for his weight cutting missteps, and his love for tiramisu, UFC lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov is booked for the year end UFC 219 event against Edson Barboza. And while the world waits for Khabib to make weight in his big return fight, one of his teammates is reporting that Khabib is still nearly 30 pounds away from his target weight.

AKA (American Kickboxing Academy) fighter and co-captain, Josh Thomson is talking all things AKA with Brendan Schaub, including an interesting update on Khabib Nurmagomedov.

According to Thomson, Khabib is currently 182 pounds, and will likely walk in on fight night around the same exact weight.

That leaves Khabib around 26 pounds for him to cut in the next two weeks.

In the new revelation, Thomson stated, “Who cuts a ton of weight at 155? Khabib! Khabib cuts a shitload of weight. [He was] 195 three weeks ago, 191 when he showed up in camp. Now he’s down to 182, 183. [He walks into the cage at ] 185-182, somewhere around there.”

Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Edson Barboza is slated as the UFC 219 co-main event. UFC 219 goes down on December 30, from the T-Mobile arena in Las Vegas. In the night’s main event UFC featherweight champion Cris Cyborg takes on Holly Holm. Both fights, including the entire main card, airs live on pay-per-view.
