Well, the time has finally come. UFC featherweights Cub Swanson and Brian Ortega are facing off for division dominance inside the octagon. The two mixed martial arts warriors are facing off on Saturday night, Dec. 9, for the main event of UFC Fight Night 123. The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s latest MMA event has been going down inside the Save Mart Center in Fresno, Calif. With the main event finally here, the time has come to take a look at the UFC results for Swanson vs. Ortega.
The night’s main event kicked off at a slower pace, as the fight is set for five rounds. The two fighters continued to measure each other’s range, as Swanson and Ortega kept things at a methodical pace of only few probing strikes.
In the last half of the first round, the pace began to quicken as Swanson started landing some strong punch combinations on his opponent. Swanson began teeing off on his opponent, but found himself caught in a takedown attempt from his opponent. Ortega managed to sink in a guillotine attempt over his opponent, but was unable to get the finish before the end of the round.
Swanson opened the second round at a faster pace, offering a higher frequency of strikes to his opponent. That being said, Ortega offered some precise counters to Swanson’s strikes early on.
Midway through the round, Swanson offered another big right hand that landed clean on Ortega. Ortega then shot for a takedown, pressing Swanson against the fence. However, Ortega was able to sink in another guillotine attempt. This time, the fighter got the finish.
