UFC featherweight champion Cris Cyborg was slapped by her head coach Jason Parillo, prior to her UFC 219 main event against Holly Holm.
If you have yet to see this video gone viral, look no further than the player above to witness the event.
Typically, a man should never put his hands on a woman, and the fact that Cyborg’s coach slapped her so hard was shocking to nearly everyone who watched it.
Now, in a new statement, the baddest woman on the planet confirms that she was no expecting the slap heard round the world, nor was she happy about it. Cris says when it happened, she wanted to punch Jason Parillo in the face.
In an interview with Brazil’s Combate, the UFC female champ explained,
“It’s a slap that I’m not expecting. He’s talking to me and then out of nowhere he gives me this slap. But he does it to wake me up, to see if I’m really there.”
”We’ve been working together for a while and he always does it. It’s not something that I particularly like. Actually, at the time it makes me want to punch him in the mouth! It’s something that’s our own, we always do it and it always helps wake me up.”
Cris Cyborg would go on to win the UFC 219 main event, and successfully defend her UFC world title.
Who think the slap was unnecessary?
