The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was in Perth, Western Australia over the weekend for UFC 221. The highly anticipated pay-per-view event featured a fight card full of entertaining match ups, including a middleweight war for division dominance.
Headlining the event, UFC middleweight contender Yoel Romero went toe-to-toe with former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold in an epic octagon war. Romero ultimately earned a knockout victory over his opponent, granting the fighter a shot at the title.
Now UFC heavyweight Alistair Overeem has come forward with his thoughts on the recent fight. Taking to Instagram, Overeem stated:
“This is by far the toughest but yet the most beautiful sport in the world! No teammate to pass, no substitutes, no halftime shows and when things are going south you got to deal with it quick before it’s over. Sometimes it’s just over. You wake up and it’s all over.
“This is one of the reasons why I and most of you love this game. Double or quits, heaven or hell, sink or swim. Plain and simple. Congrats to @yoelromeromma and a much respect to @lukerockhold who will come back stronger than ever.”
