Romero Makes Second Weigh In Attempt, Misses Again, And Is No Longer Eligible For Title Fight

Yoel Romero missed weight at today’s UFC 221 weigh ins event, by three pounds.

The commission in Australia gave the middleweight title challenger 2 additional hours to make the required 185 pound mark.

With minutes left on the clock, Romero made his second attempt to make championship weight and failed.

Instead of coming in at 185 pounds, Yoel came in just .3 pounds under his first weigh in attempt, making his official weight 187.7

As these things go, Romero is no longer eligible for the interim middleweight title.

Luke Rockhold, who made weight, will still grab the belt with a win, but if Yoel should win, he will not be awarded a world title.
