Former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar suffered a gruesome knockout loss over the weekend, making for the first time in Edgar’s career that the fighter was ever finished. Now photos of the stunning moment are making their way onto the internet.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) hosted UFC 222 on Saturday night, March 3, inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. Co-headlining the event, Frankie Edgar went toe-to-toe with undefeated mixed martial arts phenom Brian Ortega.

Edgar was initially set to face off against UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway. However, Holloway pulled out of the event due to an injury.

Consequently, Ortega stepped up to fight Edgar in the night’s event. Ortega made short work of “The Answer,” earning a knockout finish within the first round.
