Rumor: UFC 222 Pay-Per-View Buys Hit A 10 Year Low For The UFC

A new rumor is swirling that the latest fight card from the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) may have struck a longtime low in pay-per-view purchases.

The world’s most famous mixed martial arts promotion hosted UFC 222 over the weekend. The highly anticipated fight card took place inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. on Saturday, March 3.

Headlining the event, women’s UFC featherweight champion Cris Cyborg successfully defended her title from former Invicta FC bantamweight champion Yana Kunitskaya. Former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar suffered the first knockout loss of his storied UFC career in the night’s co-headliner, losing in the first round to undefeated MMA phenom Brian Ortega.

While the pay-per-view event featured a series of exciting match ups, it would appear that UFC 222 may have not sold as well as the promotion hoped. News source middleeasy.com, has reported that a new rumor claims that UFC 222’s PPV buy rate may be the new lowest total in over a decade for the promotion.

Check out the original report of the rumor below:

“Early internal projections from inside the UFC during fight week, show UFC 222 doing worst than expected at the box office and on PPV. The final UFC 222 buy-rate may be the lowest for the promotion in over 10 years.”
