It would appear that the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will be letting women’s UFC bantamweight Leslie Smith off the roster following the events of UFC Fight Night 128’s weigh-ins.
Leslie Smith was initially set to face off against Aspen Ladd at Saturday’s, April 21, UFC Fight Night 128. However, Ladd missed weight for the event.
While Ladd reportedly offered an extra $5,000 on top of the required 20% of her fight purse for a catchweight bout against her opponent, Smith ultimately declined the fight offer. The bout was scrapped from the upcoming fight card.
Now MMA reporter Mike Bohn has come forward over social media to report that Smith will be receiving show and win money for the cancelled bout, making for the end of the fighter’s UFC contract. With the promotion seemingly uninterested in resigning Smith, the fighter is now a free agent off of the roster of the world’s most famous mixed martial arts promotion.
“Leslie Smith confirms on @MMAjunkieRadio that she will get full $62,000 purse for #UFCAC (show and win money). It also represents completion of her UFC contract. UFC not interested in bringing her back. She says she’s now a free agent.”
