Kevin Lee Issues Statement After Missing Weight For Tomorrows Main Event

UFC lightweight Kevin Lee has come forward with a statement following his recent missed weight. While the fighter is still set to compete in tomorrow night’s big main event, the fighter has still issued an apology to the public.

“The Motown Phenom” is set to headline the exciting fight card of UFC Fight Night 128 on Saturday, April 21. The highly anticipated event will take place inside the Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

For the main event, Lee is set to throw down with Edson Barboza in a bout for division dominance. Of course, the night’s headlining lightweight war was nearly in question at today’s weigh-ins.

Friday morning, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) hosted the official weigh-ins for the UFC Fight Night 128. Kevin Lee ultimately came in heavy on the scales at a total of 157 pounds.

While Lee missed weight, Barboza was willing to accept a catchweight bout against “The Motown Phenom.” Now Kevin Lee will be giving up 20 percent of his fight purse to his opponent.

Taking to Instagram, Lee has decided to offer his thoughts on the matter. Check it out below:

“For the first time ever in my athletic career since high school I’ve missed weight this morning. I just ran outta time. I apologize @Ufc @danawhite @edsonbarbozajr tomorrow Imma go put on a show #ufcatlanticcity #25tolife”
