It would appear that a title fight between UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway and rising undefeated challenger Brian Ortega now has a target date.
Brian Ortega shocked the world when he became the first and only fighter to ever finish former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar. The fighters faced off back at UFC 222, with Ortega earning a stunning knockout victory over his opponent within the first round after accepting the fight on short notice.
UFC President Dana White would go on to promise Ortega a title shot shortly thereafter. Now it would appear that the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) may soon follow up on that promise.
As reported by MMA Junkie, two anonymous sources have revealed that Brian Ortega is being scheduled to fight reigning champion Max Holloway at UFC 226. The fight has yet to be officially announced by the UFC.
UFC 226 will feature a super fight between UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic and UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier in the night’s main event. The live pay-per-view will take place July 7 inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.
