UFC Fighters React To The Most Controversial Referee Stoppage Call In UFC History

Fighters are now coming forward with their thoughts following the stunningly confusing ending to one of the UFC’s latest match ups.

Atlantic City, New Jersey hosted the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s latest series of fights over the weekend. This time around, the world’s most famous mixed martial arts promotion went to the Boardwalk Hall for the highly anticipated fight card of UFC Fight Night 128.

Featured in the night’s event, Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series star Ricky Simon went toe-to-toe with Merab Dvalishvili. Dvalishvili seemed to be getting the better of his opponent for much of the fight, but Simon managed to lock in a guillotine submission attempt in the final moments of the last round.

Dvalishvili struggled to defend the submission for almost an entire minute, seemingly making it to the sound of the fight ending bell. The referee did not call a stop to the contest, leaving many to believe that the fight would consequently go to a decision.

However, the octagon was quickly filled with officials discussing the ending of the fight. Ultimately, it was decided that Dvalishvili was choked into unconsciousness during the submission attempt.

Rather than awarded a technical submission victory, however, Simon was granted a TKO win over his opponent. Check out what many fighters had to say about the confusing fight result down below:
