Boxing phenom Manny Pacquiao put on a stunning performance inside the squared circle last weekend. That being said, it would appear that the pugilist had a bit of a medical scare leading up to the match.
Pacquiao went toe-to-toe with Lucas Matthysse, finishing his opponent in the 7th round for his first knockout win since 2009. As reported by Bloody Elbow, Pacquiao was diagnosed with an “inborn heart ailment” just days before the fight. Doctors suggested that the boxer call off the match, but Pacquiao ultimately signed a waiver with the doctors in Manila.
“Buboy cried hard upon learning what happened,” Pacquiao said. “But I told him to stay strong and continue what he was doing. God will take care of the rest.”
