UFC featherweight Artem Lobov perhaps first gained fame among UFC fans for his position as a trusted teammate to UFC megastar Conor McGregor. Now it would appear that the SBG Ireland member has locked down his next match up.
Artem Lobov was initially set to fight at UFC 223. However, “The Russian Hammer” was pulled from his match up after being allegedly involved in the attack on a UFC charter bus that took place within the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on April 5.
The fracas was lead by Conor McGregor, reportedly in retaliation for Khabib Nurmagomedov’s altercation with Artem Lobov from days earlier. MMA Team Dagestan has since come forward to report that Artem Lobov is now set to face off against Zubaira Tukhugov.
Tukhugov is, of course, teammates with none other than UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Zubaira Tukhugov and Artem Lobov will throw down on the highly anticipated fight card for UFC 229.
The event will take place Oct. 6 from within the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. and will be featured live on pay-per-view. Conor McGregor will be making his long awaited octagon return in the night’s main event in a title fight match up against Khabib Nurmagomedov.
