Former interim UFC welterweight champion Colby Covington has garnered some serious controversy over his career. Now it would appear that former professional wrestler turned mixed martial artist CM Punk has come forward with a few words on the matter.
CM Punk made his MMA debut inside the octagon, ultimately suffering a devastating first round submission loss to Mickey Gall. In his big octagon return, CM Punk was handed a lopsided unanimous decision defeat to Mike Jackson.
Speaking on Ariel Helwani’s MMA show, CM Punk has since come forward with his thoughts on the controversial statements from Colby Covington.
“It’s racist.” Punk said, when asked about Covington’s polarizing UFC persona. “Anything to do with racism is bulls—. I get what Colby is doing but I don’t appreciate it. I just ignore it.”
