Cindy Dandois and Alexis Davis made their way to the octagon for their bantamweight bout which served as the featured preliminary bout on UFC Fight Pass for “UFC Fight Night 108”. Davis hoped to get back to her winning ways for another shot at bantamweight gold. Dandois, with Miesha Tate in her corner, was looking to prove herself in the octagon.
Dandois kicked the fight off with a slick takedown, putting Davis on her back a minute into the fight. Davis threw up an armbar attempt and Dandois tried to spin with it, but she walked right into it. Davis lost a bit of positioning in the scramble but Dandois was not out of danger, yet.
Dandois escaped the hold but Davis found herself in a high mount on Dandois. Davis scooted down so she was sitting on the hips of Dandois and tried to make it rain punches. Dandois refused to simply fight off the holds, and when she had the opportunity she sat up and peppered Davis with strikes from the bottom where the round ended.
Dandois tried to shoot for a desperate takedown at the start of the second round, but Davis shrugged off the attempt with ease. After two minutes of grappling along the fence, Davis took her down to the mat and let Dandois return to her feet. The remainder of the round was rather slow as neither woman landed anything dangerous.
Dandois was successful with her takedown fifteen seconds into the final round, but Davis trapped her in the closed guard. Davis found her way back to her feet but Dandois was able to take her down one final time where Davis locked up a triangle choke at the end of the round! Dandois was saved by the buzzer, bring the fight to a judges’ decision.
