The 2017 UFC fighter summit retreat has come to an end. However, the events of the summit are still echoing through the days. Former Invicta FC featherweight champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino confronted UFC strawweight Angela Magana at the summit.
After Magana was struck by “Cyborg,” the police were called by the UFC and Magana opted to press charges against Justino.
Now, as reported by MMA Junkie, Officer Larry Hadfield of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has confirmed that Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino was cited for misdemeanor battery.
While the penalty may be lessened to community service, a charge of misdemeanor assault may incur a punishment of up to six months in jail and a fine of $1,000.
“This is a misdemeanor crime, which is the lowest of Nevada penalties,” Hadfield explained. “When they found probable cause to believe the crime had occurred, they cited that other individual. For us, it’s a very minor call, I guess you could say.”
