Former boxing champion Paulie Malignaggi has once again revealed information about UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor’s skills and gameplan going into his professional boxing debut.
On Saturday, McGregor is scheduled to fight boxing legend Floyd “Money” Mayweather.
Malignaggi briefly joined McGregor training camp to help him prepare for the fight. After two sparring sessions, Malignaggi left the camp after photos, and later videos, were released of McGregor landing shots on Malignaggi.
Since then, Malignaggi has not been shy about sharing his feeling towards McGregor. In a recent interview with AG Fight, Malignaggi talked about McGregor’s skills.
“He can punch a little but he’s not that big a puncher. He’s okay, like, it’s not bad. It’s not (Gennady) Golovkin. It’s not Canelo (Alvarez). But it’s not bad,” Malignaggi said.
Malignaggi went on to give his prediction for Mayweather vs. McGregor and said what he thinks McGregor’s game plan will be.
“I see Conor being very dirty in the beginning,” Malignaggi said. “A mixed martial artist, when he gets close, what does he do? He grabs you. I was boxing (McGregor on the inside). He doesn’t know how to fight inside. Outside, Floyd is too good. Inside, Conor doesn’t know how to fight, so what is he going to do? After a few rounds, he’s going to realize he’s dead, just like with Nate Diaz.”
