Cyborg: ‘They Punish Werdum, But The UFC Says I Have A Penis, And It’s O.K.’
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) recently came down on heavyweight Fabricio Werdum for using another gay slur. Now Cris Cyborg has something to say about the situation.
Werdum has made gay jokes to former champion Junior dos Santos in the past. He has also referred to UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier as a “m**icon,” translated to “fa**ot.” After a heated exchange with Tony Ferguson, Fabricio Werdum was caught on camera stating:
“Shut your mouth, you f*cking f****t. Don’t talk to me like that, that’s not how it works. You can talk like that to your division but with me you can’t talk like that f****t.”
Following his latest use of the slur, the UFC has offered a statement on the situation and has revealed that Werdum will be performing community outreach with the LGBTQ community.
Now, it would appear that UFC featherweight champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino has a comment to make concerning the situation.
Here’s Cris Cyborg’s statement, Via Google Translate:
Let’s reflect …
For years many people inside the company have said that I have “penis”, yes ridiculous to read, but this I have endured for years, and still I continue having attacks with this by people alienated by the media.
And when I read this story, I thought because when we Brazilians are attacked, we have no protection and when we defend ourselves against attacks we are punished!
In fact serving the community we do with pleasure we become more human, there are many who should have this “punishment”! And other things we Brazilians should be respected just like any other athlete from another country, you know why?
Brazil is the number one country with international contracts with television, that is to say where they make the most money among all the countries outside the USA.
