There are few things that seem as inherently amazing as imagining UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor power bombing a heavyweight wrestler inside the WWE ring. It’s like a beautiful sunset. Most people don’t get to see it very often. But given the chance, we would whole heartily gaze upon it until it gave us retinal damage.
Apparently great minds think alike.
Long time WWE commentator, and new found UFC speaker, Todd Grisham has come forth with his two cents on McGregor’s potential wrestling career.
In an interview with Fox Sports, Grisham explained why McGregor is the proverbial chocolate to the WWE’s peanut butter.
“Ronda Rousey was there last year or the year before last. We saw Floyd Mayweather fight ‘The Big Show’ at WrestleMania. There’s always those big matches, most of them involving the Undertaker and Triple H and the John Cena’s of the world. But there’s usually that one gimmick match or that one memorable moment that involves an outside celebrity or sports star. I’d love to see Conor McGregor cross over to WWE. Think about it, if there’s ever been an athlete perhaps other than Chael Sonnen, Conor McGregor’s the perfect fit for that organization.”
Grisham admitted that McGregor’s lighter weight class would be a potential issue, as the WWE tends to go for heavyweight performances.
“Vince likes the big guys though. He would prefer that Francis N’gannou had the personality that Conor McGregor has because then he could be in the main event against whoever, but with Conor McGregor you’ve got to be a little more selective. But McGregor’s already fed into it saying ‘I’d kill everyone of them, I’d destroy them’ whatever. So he knows what to say, he knows what to do and what he loves most is cash money and Vince McMahon has plenty of it.”
While McGregor has had opportunities to perform in the promotion in the past, the lightweight champion could probably easily garner a cameo inside the WWE ring if he wished.
Yet, for “Notorious”, a bout with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather seems to be the only concern for now.
